Apple announces 25 billion songs sold

Back in 2003 the iTunes Store started out as a controlled experiment only available to Mac OS computers. Today Apple announced it has sold 25 billion tracks across multiple platforms for Mac, Windows, iOS and even the Apple TV.

Apple said the song that turned the odometer was Monkey Drums by Chase Buch via a purchaser in Germany. As a reward for hitting the milestone, Philip Lupke will receive a €10,000 iTunes gift card.

Apple says the iTunes store currently houses over 26 million songs that are available in 119 countries.
