Version 1.2 of its turn-by-turn GPS app for the iPhone due likely next week.
We've been following the rapid development of turn-by-turn GPS apps for the iPhone, and the latest word is that Navigon has submitted version 1.2 of its Mobile Navigator app to Apple's iTunes Store. Typically this approval comes within two weeks, so perhaps we'll see an update next week. IGM will be reviewing this update after it becomes available.
Version 1.2 fixes one of our biggest gripes about the software, text-to-speech turning. This is essentially where the software tells you to turn left on Main St, rather than just turn left. Also added is support for the iPod app, automatic night/day graphics mode switching, and users can share locations. Location sharing essentially allows users to send addresses or points of interest to other Navigon users for use.
There is an Flickr photostream online offering screen shots of the update.
Also, IGM recently reviewed Navigon 1.0, in addition to a number of other GPS apps. We've got shootout video planned for later this week.
