Greystripe has announced they're now offering advertisers the ability to target the iPhone audience with Flash-based rich media ads, including IAB medium rectangles and tailgate (game-in-game) ads. “Greystripe is looking to address the lack of advertising standardization in mobile by committing to IAB online formats,” said Michael Chang, CEO and co-founder. “We have made it easy for advertisers by removing barriers to execution. Brands like Jeep, RadioShack, New Line Cinema, Rock the Vote and Yahoo! have seen strong results.” And, this is the interesting bit. Greystripe says they're bringing the creative power of Flash-based ad creation to the iPHone, which isn't exactly the same as saying Flash ads are running on the iPhone. Greystripe claims it has made marketing to the iPhone mobile audience turnkey for agencies, digital media buyers and brands by supporting online ad servers like Google’s DoubleClick and Microsoft’s Atlas. Greystrip's copy makes no mention of whether or not the iPod touch is supported, but it would be odd (yes?) if it weren't. Nevertheless, I popped an email off to them asking for clarification. So, is this the real deal? Flash on the iPhone? Apple has said repeatedly, despite assurances from Adobe that Flash is ready and capable, that Flash won't be allowed on the iPhone. Though I'm probably in the minority on this, my world would be that much better without Flash on my Apple handheld... What's your take? Choose from over 4.5 Million songs!
