iTunes top sellers named

Coldplay, Leona Lewis, Jack Johnson, Rihanna, Lil Wayne, Natasha Bedingfeld, Katy Perry. One-quarter of the top selling album's sales came via downloads [ie iTunes]...

Quoting data released by Apple, Associated Press (Yahoo) reports that Coldplay's Viva la Vida was the hottest iTunes album download this year, while Leona Lewis's Bleeding Love was named the top-selling single.

Of the 2-million units Viva la Vida sold in 2008, more than 500,000 were digital downloads with the overwhelming majority of those coming via Apple's industry-leading digital media store.

Here's how the album Top 5 stacks up:

No 1 Viva la Vida, Coldplay
No 2 Sleep Through the Static, Jack Johnson
No 3 Juno Soundtrack, various artists
No 4 Tha Carter III, Lil Wayne
No 5 Little Voice, Sara Bareilles

Lewis' Bleeding Love sold 3.2 million digitally, according to her label, J Records. According to iTunes, the title track of Coldplay's album was the second most-downloaded track, followed by Low by Flo Rida (featuring T-Pain), Katy Perry's I Kissed a Girl and Rihanna's Disturbia.
