OS X 10.5.6 getting close

AppleInsider reports that Apple has issued tester a second pre-release build of OS X 10.5.6 (9G38) in just three days, which likely means development is winding up.

This particular build has "no known issues" and addressed a handful of issues. Specifically, synching, problems with DVI output, Superdrive and downloading playlists, as well as a range of MobileMe fixes, have been targeted in OS X 10.5.6.

According to Ars Technica, last week's build included over 90 fixes or about 50 more than the previous build.

Lastly, Apple has requested that testers focus on a smaller number of potential trouble spots.

Add all of this up and it would seem apparent that OS X 10.5.6, which AppleInsider says is the most ambitious Leopard patch to date, will be released sooner rather than later.
