Teen posted Jobs 'heart attack' story


On Oct 3 it was widely reported that Steve Jobs hadn't in fact had a heart attack in response to a fraudulent write up posted on CNN's iReport.com website.

Now, Bloomberg reports that a teenager was responsible for writing and posting the story. Further, the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), which investigated the report because it caused AAPL to lose billions in value, examined the teen's motives and hasn't unearthed any trading records that show he benefited from the drop, said a knowledgeable person.

Regardless of motivation, unfounded rumors about Steve Jobs health, and pointless discussions thereof, really need to be quashed. Additionally, CNN's iReporter is a brilliant idea that needs to be protected.

That said, whoever this teen bonehead is he deserves a smack down that leaves a mark--ie something he and others won't quickly forget.
