32GB iPhone just around the corner?

Engadget and iPhonefootprint, among others, are predicting the arrival of a 32GB iPhone. The latter predicts a November arrival and the former as early as next week.

Still, there are others, including The Industry Standard, that are predicting a January unveiling. Of course, it's worth mentioning that the various reports reference each other and back again, as is the case of iPhonefootprint and The Industry Standard.

The facts of the matter are few, but the story goes like this:

A 32GB iPod touch has been around since September, 2007

Other companies, like Samsung, offer 32GB phones

Apple should have released a 32GB model back on July 11 when the 3G iPhone launched

Of course, whenever we're talking rumors, AppleInsider usually has a contribution and they're also mentioning low 8GB stock levels, as well as past Apple behavior, like the 4G iPhone phase out (Sept '07) and the 16GB launch (Feb '08).

Further, AppleInsider reports that Apple is once again allowing iPhone buyers to activate their handsets at home and that a $599 iPhone sans AT&T contract is still on the horizon.

Taken altogether--8GB stocks running low, long-running 32GB rumors, the return of home activation, contract free iPhones--and we've got a number of dangling possibilities. Unrelated information or a press release waiting to happen...
