International QuickTime VR Association (IQTVRA) is prepping for the "Summit in the Rockies", which is billed as the place "ordinary people can learn how to create and user VR to effectively communicate complex information easily." If that's too much of a mouthful for you, try these numbers for size -- those attending the show will be eligible for chunky discounts on the tools needed to create VR:

RealViz - $900 off
VR Toolbox - 30 percent off
LightSpeedMedia - 25 percent off
Remote Reality - 10 percent off
Kaidan - 10 percent off

"Summit in the Rockies gives attendees hands-on with all of the important vendors in a highly creative environment. People will leave Boulder with a clear understanding of the technology and a head full of exciting ideas. And with these discounts, an entire VR setup can be created for about $1,000," stated Loren Price, IQTVRA president.

The benefits of attending this conference also include first looks at "revolutionary" new products from the event's sponsors (Apple, Canon, Kaidan, Remote Reality, VR Toolbox and Zoomify, etc.). Attendees will be the first to see and use new VR tools from Panoscan, Totally Hip, RealViz and Peace River Studios. Attendees will be the first to see a sneak preview of a new handheld digital media product from Kinoma.

IQTVRA's Summit in the Rockies Virtual Reality conference, which is scheduled to run from Oct 7 through 9 in Boulder, Colorado. Open to all, the Summit in the Rockies costs $950. IQTVRA members pay only $675, saving $275. Registration info is available here.
