MTS to sell iPhone in Russia

Quoting an unnamed source, Reuters reports that Apple has agreed with Mobile TeleSystems on the sale of iPhones in Russia with sales to begin in October.
"MTS has made an agreement with Apple on the sale of iPhones," the source said. "Sales are likely to begin in October."
Neither MTS nor Apple would comment for the story.
Last week, IGM reported an unattributed rumor that Apple was close to inking distribution deals with OAO VimpelCom, Russia's second-largest wireless carrier, and OAO MegaFon, the third-biggest.
Editor's note: I suppose it's possible all three carriers will eventually be named as iPhone partners. It's just as likely the earlier leak was a negotiating tactic designed to bring MTS to terms.
