GearLive reports that Apple has seeded iPhone OS 2.1 to developers, which also includes a same-numbered version of the SDK. The really interesting new feature, hinted at but not yet built out, is something users and developers have been crying for since Apple listed iPhone 2 specifications. A few new things we are seeing in this version of the software is the addition of a bunch of Core Location features that track the direction you are heading, and the speed you are traveling. Looks like we might see a turn-by-turn GPS app after all on the iPhone 3G. Of course, turn-by-turn GPS is a feature that iPhone marketing head Greg Joswiak said on July 14 will be a part of a future release of the iPhone OS. However, at the time, he noted non-technical issues (ie licensing) were preventing its speedy rollout Yet, just over a week later and Apple's is already showing progress in building out the feature in the next milestone release of the OS. Good on ya, lads... What's your take?
