Thunderbird 3 alpha 1


Mozilla has released Thunderbird 3 alpha 1 (release notes), a development build of the open-source group's stand-alone, multi-platform email client.

Known internally as "Shredder" (kudos on the name), Thunderbird 3 alpha 1 comes to market with the following features:

The new Add-ons Manager
The address book can now read Address Book data
New Crash Reporter (Breakpad)
Fewer false positives when searching
JavaScript engine improvements
Cocoa native application

As become their habit of late, Wired has taken a preliminary look at Thunderbird 3 alpha 1:

We don't suggest you rush out and download it unless you're a true early adopter; this release isn't stable and lacks many of the features planned for Thunderbird 3's final release.
