Mac: 21% of US consumer market

Piper Jaffary's Gene Munster is back in the news with the second of a three-part report on Apple. Forbes is the vehicle of delivery this time 'round:

Since Intel Macs were introduced, sales grew 37% in 2007, more than double the industry average
-- Munster predicts 2 ~ 2.1 million Macs sold last quarter

Worldwide market share grew from 2.4% in 2006 to 2.9% in 2007
-- Mac claims 10% (worldwide) and 21% (US) of consumer markets

Average sales price (ASP) has grown by over $150 from Dec '05 to Dec '07
-- "The combination of increasing ASPs and rising market share is evidence of a compelling product line," says Munster.
-- Munster's own price comparisons showed Macs are only 16% (desktop) and 9% (laptops) more expensive than "comparable PCs, the same percentage as two years ago

Yesterday, shocked many when he re-iterated his prediction that Apple will sell 45-million iPhones in the US alone next year.

Editor's note: AAPL at $200 doesn't seem that expensive, does it?
