Mac nano after all?

Just over a week has gone by and the Mac mini refresh rumor gets a fresh spin from a newcomer.

Without naming a source, LOOPRumors has spawned a rumor that Apple has begun production of a new Mac mini that's 'less than half the size' of the current model.

Last Fall, there were rumors that Apple would soon release the "Mac nano," though that product was said to be 75 percent the volume and have 80 percent of the weight of the mini we all know and love.

Today's rumor posits a much, much smaller product, which would seem a natural fit for the LCD monitor / dock that Apple patented last year. When this rumor wriggled free in early January, it was thought that the dock was designed to hold an ultra-portable notebook.

LOOPRumors also claims that slimmer, Penryn'd iMacs are also in production.

Editor's note: A unit that's half the size of the current mini would be for all intents and purposes be a (coat) pocket computer.

Consumer blades? Discounted family packs? .Mac to go? A little computer for everyone... I'm having difficulty grasping the marketing angle / target audience for a Mac nano.

Or, will it simply be so cool that people will flock to it just 'cause...
