Office '08 update due in March

Microsoft's Mac Business Unit has announced that the first update for Office 2008 is targeted for release on March 11. Aside from saying they're working on "high-priority issues," they really don't mention what to expect.

To date, perhaps the biggest problem that should be on the Mac BU's radar is the permissions issue for which there's already an inelegant work around.

They're also offering time lines for these issues, too:

Availability of Office 2008 Volume Licensing--English, French, and Japanese versions became available on February 1st; all other supported languages will be available on March 1st.

Remote Desktop Connection for Mac version 2.0--the final release is scheduled for Spring. The public beta version is available.

Apple Store

Messenger for Mac 7.0--Messenger for Mac 7.0 is currently in beta with corporate customers; final version later this year.

Thereupon, Microsoft has delayed delivery of the Office '04 Open XML File Format Converter in order to complete an Office '08 patch.

Editor's note: I increasingly get the feeling fewer resources are being expended to support Mac users. Perhaps it's just the Mac BU's improved transparency...
