Mobile industry experts baffled

EETimes is reporting on the exertions of a blue-ribbon panel of human behavior and technology experts at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

Here are the few points they agree on:

People love their iPhones, 77 percent very satisfied

iPhone is the model, but they don't understand why
-- One panelist suggested studying users' "need" states

Apple Store Online

Panelists agree that current interfaces are poor, but can't agree on how to improve them

People don't trust wireless carriers
-- People are apprehensive about usage plans and costs, and afraid to try the available services because of complicated billing methods

"Operators are putting together cost plans that people can't understand," said one panelist. "It is not just cost but the way you market your cost."

Panelist Sarah Lipman, co-founder and R&D director, Power2B managed to state that "content is the core" and that handset makers and carriers "have to get out of [customers] way."

Editor's note: A roomful of non-experts could have come up with the same or better answers at a much, much lower pay rate.

Nevertheless, this all bodes well for Apple...
