With yesterday's 16GB iPhone update firmly in mind, CrunchGear reports that AT&T is allowing 8GB iPhone buyers to swap recently purchased handsets for the just-released 16GB model. The only catch seems to be that you'll need to have purchased in the last 30 days. Likewise, Macenstein reports that at least two 8GB iPhone buyers have also been able to make the 16GB swap at brick-n-mortar Apple Stores. Now with iLife ’08 and Intel Core 2 Duo. From $599. Anyway, I called the closest Apple Store. Spoke with the manager and told him the situation. He said come on down. The store was packed, but he took care of me right away and had me out of there in about 5 minutes and he didn’t charge me a restocking fee (and I didn’t ask him to waive it). [update] Windows Mobile reports that the 8GB for 16GB exchange was accomplished, but the buyer paid the $107 difference the two models. Needless to say, you're mileage could vary significantly, but it can't hurt to try... What's your take? Starting at $129. Plus free shipping.
