Hackintosh installation now easy

LifeHacker--among the first to load OS X on generic hardware--is back with a fresh update on the Hackintosh saga. The evidently frisky lads adapting Leopard can now boast easy installation ('just like a Mac'), setup and even OS updating:

As if the simplicity of the installation weren't already enough, the new installation tools fix any problems I've had in the past (for example, I no longer need to keep my install DVD in the drive to boot into OS X), and support the Wi-Fi card on my motherboard out-of-the-box. In short, it's a winner.

Of course, you can't install Leopard on just any hardware and expect the same results. But, if you stick to the recipe, the lads promise good results.

Backing this up are benchmarks comparing a Mac Pro, MacBook Pro and, of course, the Hackintosh.

The notion of a cheap, upgradeable mini-tower certainly is tempting. Perhaps Apple is listening...
