Apple Puts Gag on Euro iPhone Sales Figures


This is Money reports that retailers have been banned from revealing iPhone sales.

Retailers, such as Carphone Warehouse and O2 have reportedly been gagged by Apple The article reports that iPhone sales were "disappointing", but does not cite sources. Cell phone sales over the most recent quarter saw volumes increase, but average phone retail prices dip.

However, for several years now, Apple has not disclosed precise sales breakdowns during its conference calls. Before Peter Oppenheimer even took over as CFO, Apple was reporting only 'Mac units' sold, rather than individual PowerBook/iBook/iMac figures. iPod shipments by model are not revealed either.

If the story is true, there is the possibility that Jobs wants to make a splash with the sales figures in keynote Tuesday morning.
