A very iPhone Christmas
January 14th 2008
New York Times (NYT) reports that Google recorded a surge of traffic from iPhones. In fact, it surpassed the incoming traffic topped all other types of mobile and has continued high since.
The really interesting bit is that in terms of units in the wild the iPhone only accounts for 2 percent of all "smartphones," whereas Symbian-powered products account for 63 percent, 'doze Mobile 11 percent and Crackberry 10 percent.
NYT also states that Yahoo has recorded a disproportionate amount of iPhone traffic as has online ad tracker AdMob.
Google, among others, has ported its online services for the iPhone.
Editor's note: I wonder if the people doing the tracking are differentiating between iPhone and iPod touch traffic? Is has been rumored that Apple may have sold up to 5-million of each device to date...
