Opera coming to the iPhone

UberPulse reports that the folks at Opera were nice enough to confirm their namesake browser will soon be available on the iPhone, perhaps as soon as next week--it all depends on when the iPhone SDK gets released.

Of course, Apple has said the SDK won't be available until February, but there have been reports that some developers already have it. So, perhaps Opera's optimism has some grounding in the true.

Opera has released a version of their browser for Linux-based handsets, so it shouldn't be too much of a stretch for them to port to the iPhone.

Editor's note: Yes, porting Opera to the iPhone will generate some headlines, which is good for the Swedish Norwegian company. But, is there any practical reason for an iPhone owner to install and run?
