TUAW, quoting a reader, reports that a new Family Guy DVD includes an iPod-playable copy, a Fox Digital Copy file, of the content on disc. Of course, it had been rumored that future DVDs would include such files, obviating the need to a degree to rip content.

The catch, for the moment, is that playback of Fox Digital Copy files requires iTunes 7.6, which hasn't been released, and a "serial number" ("hello," big brother).

Also, of special note, is the fact that the official release date of the Family Guy DVD in question is Jan 15—the date of His Steveness' MWSF keynote.

A coincidence? Perhaps not...
