Legal iPod-playable DVD content spotted
January 8th 2008
TUAW, quoting a reader, reports that a new Family Guy DVD includes an iPod-playable copy, a Fox Digital Copy file, of the content on disc. Of course, it had been rumored that future DVDs would include such files, obviating the need to a degree to rip content.
The catch, for the moment, is that playback of Fox Digital Copy files requires iTunes 7.6, which hasn't been released, and a "serial number" ("hello," big brother).
Also, of special note, is the fact that the official release date of the Family Guy DVD in question is Jan 15--the date of His Steveness' MWSF keynote.
A coincidence? Perhaps not...
What's your take?
