Both the AT&T CEO and Steve Jobs have said the iPhone will go 3G 'next year'. Now a CNN Money story reports CNBC writing that it will be by the end of the second quarter of 2008.

The original story cites sources close to Asian manufacturers who are working with Apple on the new version of the iPhone.

Recently, IGM reported that the 3G iPhone would cost more than the current model, although it is unknown whether Apple will have introduced price cuts by mid-2008, leaving the 3G at $399. Apple implemented a similar feature-adding/cost-cutting model with successive iterations of the iPod.

Also, the ultra-portable MacBook is moving beyond rumor, with several sites claiming that the super-thin notebook is definitely slated for product announcement at MWSF in January.
