Leopard outsells Vista in Japan

Business Computer News (Japan, BabelFish) reports that Leopard (OS X.5) is outselling 'doze Vista in Japan. In the six days after Leopard's Oct 26 launch, combined single-user license (46 percent) and family pack (7.9) sales accounted for 53.9 percent of the Japanese packaged OS market.

Microsoft's oft-derided Vista, however, saw its share shrink from 75.3 percent to 28.7 of sales from September to October.

Business Computer News attributed the shift to Apple's faster OS development cycle and better pricing model.

Editor's note: Computer sales in Japan have been contracting for some time. Apple has largely held its own in unit volume terms as PC makers have suffered and some perished, ie Hitachi.

Thereupon, Apple would seem to be taking a larger share of a shrinking market there...
