Mac's share hits 6.6%

On this first day of October, Net Applications reports that the combined share of PPC Mac (3.38 percent) and Intel Mac (3.23) now stands at 6.61 percent. Since IGM last reported on the Mac's online share in July, the number of those using the fairer platform has risen by more than 1.6 percentage points.

It's worth noting that June's share was 6.46 percent. Through some fits and starts, the number of those using the Mac online has risen from just under 2 percent over the last four years.

As one would expect, Safari's online share stands at 5.07 percent. Net Applications does not breakout share by platform for Apple's Mac and 'doze compatible browser.

Net Applications has, however, noted that the iPhone, which also runs Safari, stands 0.7 percent.

Here's what the browser Top 5 currently looks like: Internet Explorer (77.86), Firefox (14.88), Safari (5.07), Opera (0.87) and Netscape (0.72).
