Macworld UK reports that Microsoft's won't accept anyone trying to register an account using a .Mac email address. Moreover, those already registered are being asked to change their address: Because of a recent system update, you must change the email address that you use to sign in to Windows Live Messenger. Until you change your email address, you won’t be able to use Windows Live Messenger. It seems the trolls of Redmond deem the move necessary to improve "security." [update]—MacNN reports that Microsoft has apologized for and fixed an issue that saw users attempting to log into MSN accounts with a .Mac email address: "A Windows Live ID is the sign-in and password that customers use to access Windows Live Messenger, Hotmail and other Microsoft online services," the company said in a statement. "Access to Live IDs has been restored to our customers who use .Mac domains. We regret any inconvenience this caused for our customers." That turn of events was fast... What's your take?
