Apple has announced that T-Mobile will be the exclusive German carrier of the iPhone in Germany. The device will go on sale from Nov 9 . “We’re thrilled to be partnering with T-Mobile to bring the iPhone to Germany,” said His Steveness. “Customer response to iPhone in the US has been incredible and we can't wait to introduce T-Mobile customers to the most revolutionary mobile device on the planet.” By the end of 2007, T-Mobile will be the only network operator in Germany to offer EDGE throughout its entire GSM network. T-Mobile is the biggest Wi-Fi provider in the world with 8,600 in Germany at speeds of up to 11Mbps. iPhone requires a new 2-year T-Mobile tariff and will be available in an 8GB model for €399 including VAT. Previously, IGM had predicted that the iPhone would go on sale from Nov 12. In related news, Reuters reports that Apple plans to double iPhone production in Q4—2.7 million units, up from the 1.54 million originally targeted. In total, the mothership's plans now call for 4.8 million iPhones to be produced this year, up from the 3.6 million previously targeted. Editor's note: Again, a significant price premium (30+ percent), but is it mostly VAT?
