Microsoft withdraws Office fix

Just a day after its release, Microsoft's Mac Business Unit has withdrawn the Office 11.3.1 Update. However, as is increasingly common, the withdrawal comes to us via a blog:

The updates posted in error were pre-release binaries that had been staged internally as part of our testing for an upcoming release.  Due to human error, they were accidentally published to the public websites before our full testing release process was complete.

In spite of the fact that this dot-fix was so dangerous that it had to be pulled in this way, Microsoft hasn't copped to exactly what damage Office 11.3.1 Update can cause.

Perhaps the saddest part of this tale o' woe is that although Microsoft advises users to "uninstall them" the company doesn't offer any method on how to accomplish this.
