AppleInsider reports that the pilot Apple-Best Buy program has achieved its goals and Cupertino will deliver its product to 47 Best Buy outlets nationally.

The stores – in California, NJ, Virginia, New York, Illinois and MA – will offer the full range of Mac systems, including desktops, portables and Cinema displays. Apple software – a 'selection' – will also be stocked, together with Apple accessories.

The initiative formally launches November 24, but Apple has embargoed Best Buy's Mac inventory until Apple's own personnel arrive to set up store displays.

AppleInsider cites a leaked Best Buy staff memo which informs staff of the Apple-Best Buy collaboration:

"Best Buy and Apple have been working together for some time on a partnership. It makes sense to put a very successful brand of computers in the most successful national retailer. One of our goals with Apple is to become the partner of choice with them versus having them team with one of our competitors. We will prove to Apple that Best Buy is the best place and has the best sales people to sell their products."

Analysis: At least both vendors appear to be serious about making this initiative a success – a far cry from the acrimonious partnership the two companies previously brokered.
