Apple to open Dutch store

According to News.com -- currently the leading purveyor of Mac rumors and speculation -- Apple will open a retail location in the Netherlands next.

News.com quotes one Patrick van Sloten, who manages Machouse, an independent Apple dealer in the Netherlands, as saying that Apple has told dealers that it plans to open a store in Amsterdam. An announcement is scheduled for July 17, the same day Apple CEO Steve Jobs delivers a keynote address at Macworld Expo in New York.

However, this new store apparently won't be branded as an "Apple Store." Apple Netherlands' spokeswoman, Patrice Hijsterborg, is quoted as saying that the retail outlet won't be called the Apple Store, as "those only exist in America."
