Adobe Releases UB Flash Beta

Adobe has made a Preview Universal Binary (UB) version of its Macromedia Flash plug-in available that runs natively on Intel Macs.

The company warns that the Preview has not been tested extensively. However, users can use older versions of Flash which run under Rosetta, although more slowly.

On its page, Adobe also re-confirms that the company will release Windows and PowerPC versions of Flash 9 initially before it delivers a version of Flash 9 which supports Intel-based Macs.

Analysis: If Adobe's at least moving to get Intel-native versions of its software out, it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to beta some of their other software (say, free CDs/free user testing/bug reporting) if they want to speed Adobe CS for MacIntel to market. It might shorten their testing period considerably. After all, Apple benefited considerably from its release of the OS X Beta to the Mac community. It probably cut down test hours considerably.
