Former iPod boss, recently-retired Jon Rubinstein will continue to work for Apple in a consulting capacity, a Reuters report at CNN Money says. Rubinstein's J.R. Ruby consulting firm has said that he will make himself available for one day per week. Apple will pay him a "non-material" flat fee, Cupertino HQ said. Rubinstein's 'retirement' (at the grand old age of 40-something) was confirmed in a recent Apple filing. He has been replaced at the iPod spin-off company by Tony Fadell. Jon Rubinstein joined Apple in 1997 and was previously VP of Hardware Engineering. Before a stint at PowerPC computer maker Firepower, he was president of Hardware Engineering at NeXT. He has also held senior positions at Hewlett-Packard.
