Also from The Inquirer today, Dell will be launching its Intel Yonah-powered laptops in February. Their performance - albeit with Windows - may give a clue to Yonah's performance. But it also tells us that Apple could conceivably ship Yohah-powered Mac portables by February as well.

Dell will use Yonah in its Precision M90, Latitude D620 and D82 laptops. Yonah - in some editions - features a dual core processor on a single die, and the chip is also said to be a low power consumer, which could mean significantly longer battery life.

The FSBs run at 667MHz (much faster than the PowerBook G4's bus, but a lot slower than, say, a G5's. The chips are clocked - although these are meaningless figures, really – at speeds ranging from a low of 1.66GHz to 2.16GHz. All feature a 2MB L2 cache.

Dell has yet to release prices. After all, it wants to sell all the old Pentium M laptops it can for now.

Analysis: Bottom line here is that Apple could be shipping Yonah PowerBooks and/or iBooks by February. What do you think? Announce in January at MWSF and sell in February. It's been done before. And it's just like Jobs to steal all the publicity and poke Dell in the eye good and proper.
