Filling out details lacking from earlier rumors, rumorological gold-standard bearer ThinkSecret claims that Apple is planning to release a widescreen MacIntel iBook next year. Replacing the current 14.1-inch model will be a 13.3-inch unit that will sport 15-percent more pixels via a 1280 x 720 resolution display.

Further, ThinkSecret Claims that the 12-inch iBook will live on, though the same-size PowerBook model is not long for this world.?
That's nice, but...

Will Apple also produce a subnotebook? That's precisely what American Technology Research analyst Shaw Wu (and noted scatologist) believes:

"While many believe that cost was primary reason for Apple moving to Intel, we believe power management and the oppertunity to enter new markets are bigger reasons -- including the potential for a lightweight sub-notebook or palmtop similar to those offered by Sony, Lenovo, Dell and Sharp," AppleInsider quotes Wu as recently saying. "We believe there is pent-up demand for an Apple subnotebook and that it would sell very well if priced competitively at $1,499 or lower."

The success of the Mac mini indicates clearly that users will pay for a well-designed and stylish product.

Is there finally a subnotebook in our future and do you want one?
