Apple cuts overseas nano price

DigiTimes reports that languishing iPod nano sales have led Apple Taiwan to cut prices there. It's said that only 6,000 of the 15,000 units allocated for the island have been ordered by distributors Synnex and Weblink.

Here's what the mothership is said to be charging for the latest iteration of its otherwise world-beating iPod music player on the Silicon Island:

2GB--$181 (was $205)
4GB--$238 ($255)

Of course, when asked for comment, none of Steve's merry band would step up to the microphone.

Editor's note: Assuming there's a shred of truth in this story, it's notable how quickly Apple has responded in the minor market of Taiwan. There were times and products, like the "PowerMac" 6500 series, when prices and stocks there seemed immovable.

Anyone else seeing increased flexibility abroad?
