Yada, yada, [security], yada, yada
September 19th 2005
It's that time of the month again and no firmer proof of that is needed than this Techworld article, which regurgitates the hook, line and sinker of a Symantec "security study." As you might expect, users of the fairer platform are deluded, living on borrowed time:
It is now clear that the Mac OS is increasingly becoming a target for the malicious activity, contrary to popular belief that the Mac OS is immune to traditional security concerns.
Of course, there isn't a single real-world, in-the-wild threat to OS X. Not a single one has been found. This of course doesn't preclude one from appearing some time in the not-too-distant future. Not today, though.
Nevertheless, this utter paucity of flesh-n-blood malware hasn't inhibited security analysts (with or without irony) from pronouncing imminent doom again and again.
