Are Google, Apple finally ready to dance?

The Street reports speculation that Apple is set to announce a deal with Google that will see the iTunes Music Store offered on the search giant's pages.

There's "speculation of an iTunes launch," says Paul Foster, an options strategist, Theflyonthewall.com. "Google is going to offer iTunes somehow on their platform."

In truth, I've wondered why Apple and Google haven't found reason to work together before now. And, assuming this report is true, would it be too much to suppose that Google is getting access to the mothership's "best-of-class" desktop search technology?

What's your take?
