Amazon is listing a dual-2.7GHz PowerMac ready for pre-order. The specs are in line with earlier rumors and it appears that we'll be paying the same price for Apple's "best" pro desktop—$2,995.

The image shown on the order page is visually identical to current models.

Meanwhile, AppleInsider (AI) has a picture of what it says is a palette o' new PowerMacs—wrapped in black plastic. Apparently, said incognito shipments are whisking their respective ways to retailers around the US.

AI report states that the mothership will formally begin offering the freshened product from tomorrow.

Editor's note: A few details are, of course, still unresolved, including pricing for the other models and whether or not Apple will continue offering an single-processor model.

But, it appears we won't have to wait long now...
