Not Even Apple Can Make BlueTooth Fly

MacUser UK is reporting that Apple has postponed its BlueTooth adapter orders "indefinitely".

The story says that the supplier of the adapter, D-Link, has been unable to designate a shipping date, and Apple has cancelled all customer orders. MacUser cites componentry shortages and manufacturing problems.

Steve Jobs demonstrated the BlueTooth adapter earlier this year at MacWorld Tokyo, and Apple has delivered two technology previews of its software.

MacUser UK says that Apple is planning to incorporate BlueTooth technology across its Macintosh line later this year.

Analysis: At the very least, this will have an impact on BlueTooth adoption this year, and must lead analysts to review anticipated BlueTooth shipments this year. And we wonder how many more Apple contracts D-Link will get.
