Native Instruments has released Guitar Rig v1.2, an update to its hardware/software combo that reduces your rig to just a few peddles and a notebook. New and/or improved stuff in this release includes: • New stomp boxes (Fuzz Ace, Big Fuzz, Cat distortion pedal, Demon Distortion), • Faster preset switching (no dead space or less dead space?), • An improved Gratifier amp emulator, • Volume Learn function for automatic input adjustment, and • Over 50 additional presets. I'd buy that for a dollar! If you're looking for a low-cost way to tune up, then AWS Guitar Tuner 2.0 might be just the ticket. A guitar tuner with standard and alternative tunings for acoustic-nylon, acoustic-steel, and electric guitars, the new version offers nine tuning options, keyboard shortcuts and a three-octave note player. The beauty of this widget is its $1 price. For true paupers and the truly parsimonious, a "free" but ad-supported version is also available.
