Tiger Ships First Half of '05 - Just

News from Amazon concerning Tiger (OS X 10.4) continue as Macworld UK notes. Previously, Amazon stated that Tiger would be available 31 March, 2005. Now it's slipped back to June 30.

Apple has previously stated that Tiger will ship in the first half of 2005. The new date issued by Amazon suggest Cupertino will only just achieve that deadline.

OS 10.4 represents a change of plan at Apple as several executives have noted this year. The idea now is not to roll out an upgrade of OS X every year, but perhaps only every 18-24 months.

Analysis: We didn't know Apple had contracted out its PR to Amazon, but we'll take the news from wherever we can get it.

The longer shelf life of versions of OS X also means that they might be supported longer. Jaguar (10.2) is all but abandoned now and 10.1 is obsolete. And no one's still running 10.0.x, right?
