Apple Taiwan has announced (Chinese) that it has opened its flagship store Taiwan store. However, this retail space and two more to come aren't owned or operated by the company but by the company's Taiwan distributor Blue Apple (Unitech). Further (photos are forthcoming), to call this "flagship" store small is a bit of an understatement. Perhaps the only notable aspect of this store is the location, Gong Guan, which is a busy shopping, restaurant and university district. Unitech and Apple have previously opened five other stores around Taiwan under the Blue Apple (retail and hardware service) and Apple Center (retail) banners. Love hurts... For those seeking to purchase an iPod mini in Taiwan, perhaps the best place to order is one of the country's ubiquitous 7-11 convenience stores. While third-party resellers (Blue Apple included) and chain stores wait, Apple and 7-11 are advertising one week delivery for silver iPods (other colors are not available). Moreover, those wishing to make this monochrome choice must first pay up front, NT$8,900 (US$262). Four of four resellers polled replied that Apple has consistently refused to provide a schedule for iPod mini delivery. Editor's note: Apple Center -- stores currently open in Singapore, Beijing, [etc] -- is a catch all title for the mothership's overseas retail operations. Generally, these stores are "sanctioned" by Apple (branded), but run by the company's local distributor. To call Apple's 7-11 tie up "innovative" is a bit of an understatement.
