ATIccelerator: Overclock ATI cards
May 18th 2004
One Thomas Perrier -- apparently a man with some time on his hands and perhaps "thrill issues," has posted ATIccelerator, a tool for overclocking ATI graphics accelerators from the now-crusty Rage 128 to the RADEON 9800 Pro.
According to Mssr Perrier, this tool can do two related things:
• Display and modify core and memory frequencies stored in a flashing utility (ATI Multi Flasher);
• Display and modify core and memory frequencies stored in a ROM.
Supported ROMs are said to include:
• 9800 Pro Mac Edition, rev 114
• 9700 Pro OEM, rev 119 and 124
• 9600 Pro OEM, rev 126
• 9000 Pro Mac Edition, rev 107 and 112
• 9000 Pro OEM, rev 122 and 127
• 8500 Pro Mac Edition, rev 123 and 126
• 7500 OEM, rev 222
• 7000 Mac Edition, rev 208
• Mac Edition, rev 106 and 126
• Rage 128 Pro OEM, rev 108 and 130
• Rage 128 OEM, rev 116 and 204
ATIcellerator's other requirements, including a card-compatible Mac capable of running OS, are not overtly steep, but require a bit of study before hand.
You can download the application here.
Editor's note: It's worthy of note that Pellier makes no claims vis-à-vis the performance boost one might expect to gain...
Hey, I've got a Rage 128 card just laying around... hmmm!
Are you tempted to give this tool a go?
