New G5s to offer RADEON 9800 Pro SE?

Recently, IGM quipped that the recent and on-going releases of top-shelf game titles would likely require new hardware from Apple just to play. Today, a similar off-handed reference to new, but still non-existent new hardware has arrived, this time from video card maker ATI.

The company has released ATI Radeon Display Utilities v4.2 (Read Me). The interesting tidbit buried herein is that this version of the software is compatible with the RADEON 9800 Pro Mac Special Edition.

Of course, this card isn't available inside any current Mac or as a retail upgrade. Therefore, one expects that Apple's long-anticipated PowerMac G5 revision will ship with this card inside or offered as a BTO option.

Editor's note: Fresh scat sightings, but still the beasts elude us. When, oh, will Apple announce new hardware?

One would expect before April 14.
