Age of Mythology to ship Nov 5

MacSoft has announced that Microsoft Game Studios' best-selling real-time strategy game, Age of Mythology, for X is in the final stages of development and will ship on Nov 5.

According to MacSoft's PR spin, "Age of Mythology transports players to a time when heroes did battle with monsters of legend and the gods intervened in the affairs of mortal men. Age of Mythology was created by Ensemble Studios, the makers of Age of Empires, Age of Empires: The Rise of Rome Expansion, Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings and Age of Empires II: The Conquerors Expansion and, which together have sold over 11 million units."

Age of Mythology Mac has been under development by Westlake Interactive since early this year. The $50 game requires a 450Mhz or faster processor, 256MB RAM, 16MB video card and X.2.6 or higher.

Editor's note: I play but one game -- Civ II -- so news that AOM is coming to Mac isn't that interesting to me. However, it appears to this largely disinterested observer that development of Mac games is slowly gaining parity with the PC platform. Honestly, three years ago AOM wouldn't have even been considered for the rest of us.
