Jobs: We're on track to ship iTMS for Windows

Reuters reports that Steve Jobs has reiterated Apple's pledge to port and ship iTunes and iTunes Music Store (iTMS) for the darkside during his keynote address at Apple Expo in Paris earlier today.

"We're very much on track to execute iTunes for Windows," he is quoted by Reuters as saying.

However, to the disappointment of the faithful gathered for his (in)famous dog-n-pony show, Jobs also stated:

"We're clearly working on it (but) I think we'll do it next year" in reference to the much-anticipated launch of iTMS in the European market where licensing and royalty are much thornier than the unified North American market.

Editor's note: Much like telecoms, the music biz is highly fragmented in Europe. It was perhaps wishful thinking on the part of enthusiasts to expect an EU launch before the end of the year.

iTMS for Windows, however, looks to be on track, which if nothing else, could add significantly Apple's bottom line and perhaps even the Mac's appeal to at least some of the unwashed 95 percent.
