Opinion: Apple Not Killing 'Switch' - the Evidence is there for All to See

Rumors that Apple may have killed its 'Switcher' campaign appear to have been greatly exaggerated.

MacMinute reported recently that Apple had removed its 'Switcher' movies. However, a check today revealed that the stories, at least, are there in all their glory.

In fact, new stories have been included as recently as July 3, and there are 8 - count 'em - 8 pages' worth of switcher tales.

Unfortunately, this report of Apple allegedly backsliding on 'Switchers' was widely reported, via sites such as OS News, which might give the rumor much currency.

It's certainly possible that Apple are simply done with the movie side of 'Switch' and are refocussing their advertising efforts on other products - like iTMS and G5s. Not at all unreasonable. You don't run the same ads forever. Even 'Think Different' got a bit tired after a while. And they don't run the 'She's a Rainbow' or 'Ruby Ruby' iMac ads either (for reasons obvious).

Apart from which, why should Apple waste perfectly good bandwidth when everyone who wants it already has a copy of the Ellen Feiss movie? And, newsflash, you can't download Steve Jobs' Boston '97 Macworld keynote anymore either.
