MWCP: Jozwiak Demos Power Mac G5

At Macworld Creative Pro New York, keynote speaker, Apple's Greg Jozwiak, demonstrated the Power Mac G5, reiterating CEO Steve Jobs' promise that the G5 would be at 3GHz "within 12 months," notes aPC World article.

In a rerun of Jobs' WWDC comments, Jozwiak argue that a comparably-equipped Dell machine would cost $1,000 more than the G5. Jozwiak also confirmed Jobs' promise that the 2GHz Power Mac G5s would ship in August.

Panther was also taken for a walk, with Jozwiak demoing some of the forthcoming OS X upgrade's 100 new features, such as Expose, Pixlet and SMB printing.

Analysis: So no new PowerBook-15 after all? It always was a long shot. There's still too much gloss on the G5's PR to deflect the shine by releasing a new PB.
