Gore More Popular than Jobs, say Apple Shareholders

An election that former Vice-President Al Gore has indisputably won is the election to the Apple board. And there'll be no recount necessary, as Gore received 40 million votes more than CEO Steve Jobs.

The news comes from an Apple filing with the SEC Tuesday, as noted by c|net. Gore received 286.3 million votes versus 244.4 million for Jobs.

The filing also reveals that Jobs received $1.2 million in "company-related airplane expenses" during fiscal 2001 and 2002. This year, to date, Apple has spent $161,000 in expenses relating to Jobs' company-related air travel.

Analysis: Not really news; more like malicious gossip. But maybe it says less about Gore's popularity than the rancour shareholders feel about pennies-per-share. But at $18.55 at time of writing, people who got in at the $13s and $14s have got to smiling a little more now.
