OS X Server tops the field

CMP Media's Network Magazine has announced the winners of its 16th Annual Products of the Year Awards. Chosen by Network Magazine's industry-leading editors, these awards recognize the outstanding technical achievement of products and services that are most significant to the network IT community.

Those very same "industry-leading" editors chose OS X v10.2 Server as the Server OS of year (The full report apparently hasn't been posted online yet).

In all, 27 awards were handed out in eight categories focused on product and service areas essential to today's Network IT Buyers, including security, network hardware, management, telephony and messaging, services, server hardware and software, and emerging technology.

Editor's note: Certainly, both the Xserve and OS X Server have won awards and not a few users, which have helped to drive sales in a market where Apple was virtually non-existent year ago. Awards aside do you think the mothership's back-office iron has the legs to make a serious impact?
