"By extending support across all popular desktop computing platforms, Marimba gives Global 2000 and Fortune 500 enterprises, as well as educational institutions, more options and greater flexibility for managing their complex IT environments." "With its UNIX-based foundation, reliability and support of open standards, Mac OS X is fast becoming a common operating system in large computing environments," said Ron Okamoto, VP, worldwide developer relations, the mothership. "With Marimba's support of Mac OS X, IT managers have the choice of another popular enterprise level solution to manage applications for users running Mac OS X." Marimba's Mac OS X supported desktop and mobile management products have been successfully implemented at test sites, such as Stanford University and State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio. "We reviewed many desktop management solutions and Marimba was the only solution that could work across our mixed environment of Mac and Windows desktops and servers," said Mitch Davis, executive director, academic technology & consulting, Stanford University. "Marimba offers a single solution to provide efficient and reliable desktop management services to our thousands of users, many of which run Jaguar." Marimba's Desktop/Mobile Management product family now supports X.2, as well as a host of other OS' ? Windows NT, Windows 2000/XP, HP, Solaris, Linux and AIX platforms. Editor's note: The growing support for X in the enterprise, from server tools to management suites, is heartening. In September last year, we reported on X compatibility in NetOctopus -- another desktop management system for the enterprise.
